February 9th, 2010 Outdoor Storage Cabinet – Rubbermaid plus More, All Your Garden Equipment Safe And Protected

I viewed reviews online on outdoor storage cabinet models as I required to clear my patio from the garden tools lying around, after I saw my friend doing exactly that too. He decided to purchasing the Rubbermaid series which is far nicer! As Well looking much better the doors also have real hinges on then too. After doing a considerable amount of shopping for outdoor storage at big box stores and on-line I eventually decided on the Rubbermaid 7083.

Putting it together was easy, like various other reviewers, I too determined that using a heavy rubber mallet was more essential than optional to put the parts togehter. Just be alert that you likely have to remove a lot of disk shaped parts of plastic out of the hollow panels.

The top of the cabinet not being watertight is an issue really. There was a lot of water in the cabinet after just one night of rain. After numerous trials and errors I ended up solving the issue by gluing using silicon a part of corrugated vinyl roofing panel on top of the cabinet. That works well for me.

This cabinet does have some pros, however: reasonably priced, shelving included, good storage capacity, and capable to hold heavy stuffs. Putting it together was straight forward, although fairly tedious. As I said before you can use it for heavy paint cans and other heavy objects although the structure of the shelves are from plastic, but once more, for the price, I believe it is unbeatable. My stuff is covered from view, saved from the elements, and I was not about to spend $200+ for storage.

The cabinet is put under the roof of the house that sticks out moderately, so the unit won’t rust like more expensive metal units, and made the wife genuinely happy as the garden tools and equipment were no longer on the patio and no longer on display. She considered this outdoor storage cabinet was worth every penny!
